This July, our guest Ersen enjoyed a truly special day trip – accompanied by our caring and reliable driver-guide Musti, who, as always, brought not only safe transportation but also warmth, humor, and heart to the journey.

The day began with a comfortable ride in our fully accessible vehicle. As with every SBS Fahrdienst tour, every detail was thoughtfully planned to ensure that our guest felt completely at ease from the very first moment. The destination: the stunning Herrenchiemsee Palace, located on the island of the same name in the middle of Lake Chiemsee – often referred to as the “Bavarian Versailles.”

Upon arrival, Musti took care of buying the boat tickets, making the process smooth and stress-free. Then it was time to board the ferry – and what a magnificent crossing it was! Sunshine, crystal-clear skies, and the majestic Alps reflected in the water created a postcard-perfect scene. Seagulls soared above the lake, and the fresh breeze carried with it the promise of an unforgettable day.

Once on the island, a peaceful walk through the palace gardens led us to our next highlight. Ersen was especially captivated by the ornate fountains, once considered technical marvels during the reign of King Ludwig II. Even today, these water displays stand as a living testament to the engineering genius of that time – elegant, intricate, and still perfectly functional over a century later.

The grand finale of the day was the tour of Herrenchiemsee Palace itself. From the richly decorated chambers and ceiling frescoes to the gilded furniture and the seemingly endless hall of mirrors, the palace was a true time capsule of royal splendor. In the throne room and mirror gallery, the spirit of the fairy tale king was almost palpable – a moment of awe and wonder for everyone.

After a day full of beauty, laughter, and unforgettable memories, we made our way back home — relaxed, happy, and deeply grateful. For Ersen, it wasn’t just a day trip; it was a mini-vacation, filled with moments that will stay with him for a long time.

We’re already looking forward to the next adventure together! You can find further travel destinations under day tours from Munich.

Incidentally, the ship is also easily accessible for electric wheelchairs via a gangway. On the island, you must purchase an entrance ticket immediately after the jetty. The gravel path between the pier and the castle is very fine sand and well-maintained. It’s a gentle uphill walk of about 15 minutes. The castle is wheelchair accessible via a ramp. Inside, there is an accessible restroom and an elevator to the upper floor. Visits to the castle are only possible as part of a guided tour, which is subject to a fee.
